STORY HOUR
“Father’s Day” will be the theme for Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Usually one half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the Story Time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. HURON AREA WRITERS GROUP (HAWG)
The Huron Area Writers Group will hold its monthly meeting on June 17, 2010 in the Community Room of the library at 6:30 PM. All writers, no matter what skill level, are invited to the HAWG meeting.
SUMMER SATURDAY HOURS
During June, July, and August, the library’s Saturday hours are 9 AM – 1PM. Weekday hours remain unchanged.
2010 SUMMER READING PROGRAM
“Make a Splash---READ!” is the theme for the 2010 Summer Reading Program at the Pigeon District Library. Registration has begun and will continue through June 19. Recording of the books will be done June 7 through July 10.
Enjoy five weeks of summer fun by earning “Clam” dollars for the books you read and for participating in the activities throughout the program. When you register for the Summer Reading Program, you will receive a book bag, bookmark, pencil, SRP guidelines, and a calendar of scheduled events.
This program is open to children age 5 by August 31st through grade 8, who live in the library’s service area or attend a school in the library’s service area. There will be movies, family programs and afternoon activities during the months of June and July for Summer Reading Program Participants.
There will be no charge for the activities, but the library staff asks that the children sign-up for the activities ahead of time.

As of June 7, 62 children have registered for the Summer Reading Program: Kindergarten-6, Grade 1-6, Grade 2-10, Grade 3-10, Grade 4-10, Grade 5-6, Grade 6-8, Grade 7-3, Grade 8-3.
LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES ANNUAL BOARD MEETING
The Pigeon District Library Board of Trustees will hold its annual board meeting on Thursday, June 24, 2010 beginning at 4:30 PM in the library’s Community Room. The meeting is open to the public.
BOOK CLUB
The book for discussion at the June meeting will be “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson. The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, June 29 at 6:30 PM. If you or someone you know would like to join us for a discussion on this book, please call the library and ask for Jane Himmel.
