LIBRARY HOURS
The Pigeon District Library is now open every Tuesday and Thursday until
7:00 PM. Hours on the other days remain the same - Monday and Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

USED BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library will be having its May Used Book Sale on
Saturday, May 2, 2009, in the Reference Room of the library from 10:00 AM –
11:30 AM. Prices range from $.25 to $3.00. Also, don’t forget the On-Going Used Paperback Sale. Paperback books are always available on the book shelf to the right of the aquarium in the Children’s Room.

HELP 4 U AT YOUR LIBRARY
Do you know someone who needs help reading a form, a recipe, a set of instructions, or other written material? They can visit any public library in Huron County on the first Monday of the month and someone will help them. The program starts May 4. If you’re interested in volunteering for Help 4U, please contact this library at (989) 453-2341 or any other county library.

LAP-SIT STORY TIME AND PRE-SCHOOL STORY HOUR
“Mother’s Day” will be the theme on Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Usually one –half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the story time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT
The Pigeon Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Girls’ Night Out, on May 7th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Pigeon District Library will be giving the Girls a deal on DVD rentals! Any lady, age 18 and over, who rents one DVD will receive free rental on a second DVD. So, come to the library and rent some movies to view at home with your family, friends or yourself.

MUSICAL JAMBOREE THANK YOU
The staff would like to thank the following performers who made the 2009 Musical Jamboree a success: Howard Bedford. Rebecca Dubs, Elizabeth Higgins, Elizabeth and Emily Hoepner, Archie Hyttenin, Nick Johnson, The Johnson Sisters, Rachel Kessler, Ruth Leinweber, Dru Leppek, Michaela Love, Alissa Peterson, Dana and Caitlyn Reiter, Janae Stetler, and Shelby Webber. Over eighty people were in attendance to enjoy an evening of musical entertainment by the performers.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK
During the week of April 19-25, we recognize the many individuals who volunteer their time for the Pigeon District Library-our Board of Trustees, the officers and members of the Friends of the Pigeon District Library, the faithful people who deliver materials to the senior residential facilities in the area, those who repair our audio tapes and video tapes, and those who volunteer in the library and assist patrons in the computer lab. NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK-APRIL 12 – 18
Come celebrate National Library Week with us. Several events are being planned for this special week. Musical Jamboree will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 PM and a Magic Show by Dan Suttkus on Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 AM. Thanks to North Star Bank of Pigeon, patrons will be able to enjoy a bag of popcorn on Friday afternoon, the 17th and Saturday morning the 18th. Throughout the week, patrons will have the opportunity to enter their names in drawings for a number of prizes. Come and join the fun at the Pigeon District Library.

On Tuesday evening, April 14th at 7:00 PM the library will be filled with beautiful sounds coming from the Community Room, where the library will be holding its eleventh annual Musical Jamboree. Please join us for an evening of free music entertainment provided by many, talented individuals from the surrounding area. You will be glad you took the time to attend.

FREE MAGIC SHOW
Kids of all ages are invited to come to the library for some great fun on Saturday, April 18th at 10 AM. Dan Suttkus, along with his wife Carol, will be returning to the Pigeon District Library to perform some awesome magic tricks. You might even be one of the lucky ones who will get to help Dan out with a magic trick.

MICHIGAN AND FEDERAL TAX FORMS ARE HERE!
The library has received a limited supply of Michigan and Federal tax forms. If the tax form you need is not available in paper form, someone on the library staff will assist you in retrieving it from a tax form website. We are pleased to be a source for income tax forms but wish to remind everyone that library staff members are not tax professionals and cannot provide tax advice or assistance with e-filing and tax preparation.
