LIBRARY HOURS
The library will now be open every Tuesday and Thursday until 7:00 PM. Hours on the other days remain the same-Monday and Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

PRE-SCHOOL STORY HOUR
“Birds” will be the theme for Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. For more information, please call the library at 453-2341 and ask for Jane Himmel.

BOOK CLUB
The book for discussion at the April meeting will be “Live to Tell” by Lisa Gardner. The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, April 26th at 6:30 PM. If you or someone you know would like to join us for a discussion on this book, please call the library and ask for Jane Himmel.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS BEGIN
During the spring the Pigeon District Library is offering a once-a-month late afternoon program for preschoolers and children in grades DK-2. The program for preschoolers, DK and gradesK-2 will include a story, craft, and other activities.
Preschool-DK Story Hour: 1st Tuesday of May at 4:00 PM
May 3- Ladybug Theme
K – 2nd Grade Story Hour: 2nd Tuesday of May at 4:00 PM
May 10 – Alligator Theme

SPRING USED BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library (FOPDL) will be having a Spring Used Book Sale on Thursday, May 5th and Friday May 6th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Gently used books, audio books, video tapes, CDs, DVDs, and puzzles will be available to purchase at the used book sale.

MICHIGAN ELECTRONIC LIBRARY (MeL)
The Michigan eLibrary (http://mel.org) provides all Michigan residents with free access to online full-text articles, full-text books, digital images, and other valuable research information at any time via the Internet; and provides an easy-to-use interlibrary loan system to allow Michigan residents to borrow books and other library materials for free from participating Michigan libraries.
You can access the MeL databases, through our library website at www.pigeondistrictlibrary.com. Click on the Mel (Michigan eLibrary) link which is located in the middle of our homepage. From the next screen click on “MeL Databases” to view the list of 50+ databases which are listed in alphabetical order.
Each week the Pigeon District Library will introduce one of the databases in the Michigan eLibrary. The database chosen for this week is “Informe!” This database is recommended for Spanish Language Resources and is full text. Patrons are able to access this database from home if they have internet access and are a Michigan or have access to a Michigan library.

COFFEE TIME AT THE LIBRARY
Hot coffee, cocoa, and tea are available on Thursdays in the Reference Room of the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea while reading the newspaper or visiting with fellow readers.
