USBORNE BOOK FAIR
The Pigeon District Library will be hosting an Usborne Book Fair on Monday, November 15th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Tuesday, November 16th from
10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On-line shopping is available at www.buildinggreatreaders.com. Click on the “Pigeon District Library” link to shop for a variety of books and to give the gift of reading.

LAP-SIT STORY TIME AND PRE-SCHOOL STORY HOUR
“Homemade Bread Day” will be the theme for Tuesday, November 16, 2010. One half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the Story Time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
During the spring and fall the Pigeon District Library is offers a once-a-month late afternoon program for preschoolers and for children in grades DK-2. The program for preschoolers and grades DK-2 will include a story, craft, and other activities. Our next enrichment session will be in the spring, which will include the months of March, April, and May. Please call at 453-2341 for further information.

Library hours are Monday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

BOOKPAGE
The November 2010 issue of BookPage has arrived and can be found in the library’s Information Center. “A monthly general interest review, BookPage covers the best in new releases. BookPage typically reviews up to 100 of each month’s new fiction, nonfiction, business, children’s, spoken word audio and how-to books. The tone is upbeat and literate, focusing on bestsellers as well as new discoveries.”

FRIENDS OF THE PIGEON DISTRICT LIBRARY
You can support the library by becoming a member of the Friends of the Pigeon District Library. Initial membership is $10.00 and then $5.00 each year thereafter. Join us at our next meeting on November 18, 2010 at 5:00 PM.

HURON AREA WRITERS GROUP (HAWG)
The Huron Area Writer’s Group will be having their monthly meeting November 18th, 2010 at 6:30 PM. All writers, no matter what skill level, are invited to the HAWG meeting.

COFFEE TIME AT THE LIBRARY
Hot coffee, cocoa, and tea are available on Thursdays in the Reference Room of the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea while reading the newspaper or visiting with fellow readers.

LIBRARY CLOSED
The library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25th. The library will reopen at its regular time of 9 AM on Friday, November 27th.

BOOK CLUB
The book for discussion at the November meeting will be a book of choice. Readers will bring in books they have read and hold discussions about the selected materials. MILITARY MAILING DAY
Military Mailing is a collaborative effort of the Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Schools, Pigeon District Library, Pigeon Post Office, and Pigeon Rotary. Our next Military Mailing Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 9th from 1 PM – 5 PM in the library’s Community Room. Volunteers, under the direction of Pigeon Postmaster Peggy Hoppe, will assemble gift packages for service men and women.

The post office provides the flat rate mailing boxes and tape and monetary donations cover the cost of mailing the boxes that will be packed. Donated items may be dropped off at the library. Monetary donations may be left with Steve Langford at the Pigeon branch of Independent Bank. Names and addresses of men and women serving in any branch of the U.S. military may be given to Peggy Hoppe at the Pigeon Post Office.

The movie will be shown on the 7 foot by 7 foot screen in the library’s Community Room. Popcorn will be provided and movie goers may bring their own, non-alcoholic beverages.
