FOPDL SPRING FUNDRAISER
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library has a spring fundraiser called “Flower Power”. Information is available online at our website www.pigeondistrictlibrary.com and through brochures to inform patrons about the fundraiser. The brochures have been placed on the FOPDL Book Sale carousel near the Circulation Desk. For every item ordered, the friends group gets 50% of the cost of the item(s). The person who places the order pays $5.00 to cover shipping and everything is sent directly to the customer. This fundraiser will end on March 31st.

LIBRARY HOURS
Beginning April 1st, the library will be open every Tuesday and Thursday until 7:00 PM. Hours on the other days remain the same-Monday and Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

MUSICAL JAMBOREE
Each Year our library hosts a Musical Jamboree which features local, talented individuals. We are looking for people willing to do one vocal or instrumental selection for this year’s Musical Jamboree which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13th, beginning at 7:00 PM in our Community Room.If you are interested or know someone who is interested in sharing his/her talent with the community, please call the library at 453-2341 and ask for Stephanie or Kim.

ADULT WINTER READING PROGRAM
The Pigeon District Library’s Adult Winter Reading Program ends March 15. Adult patrons who participated this year had a lot of fun. CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to Kathi Weidman, our eighth winner in the weekly drawing for the Adult Winter Reading Program. Kathi received a free book along with a gift certificate for $25 to Lindas’ Basket Case donated by Bailey Insurance Agency-Pigeon.

READING PROGRAM PARTY
Adults who participated in our Winter Reading Program are invited to an end-of-program party which will be held in the library’s Community Room on Thursday, March 18, beginning at 5:00 PM. Come for the food, fellowship, fun, and prizes.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
When the weather outside gets frightful, please call the library or listen to WLEW to make sure the library will be open for your reading needs.

COMPUTER WORKSHOP
Led by Kim Gaeth, the following workshops will be provided free of charge to area residents:
Saturday, March 20, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: “Introduction to Word Processing”
Saturday, March 27, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: “Introduction to the Internet”

Since class size is limited for these workshops, pre-registration is required and the sign up sheets are on the table near the Circulation Desk. The workshops will be held in the library’s computer lab.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
During the spring the Pigeon District Library is offering a once-a-month late afternoon program for preschoolers, and for children in grades K-2, and grades 3 -5. The program for the preschoolers includes a story, craft, and other activities. The program for children in grades K-2 includes a story, craft, and snack, and the program for children in grades 3-5 includes a snack and activities centered on the paperback book “The Lightning Thief.” Those who sign up for this activity will receive a free copy of the book being discussed. These spring programs will take place during the months of
March through May. Please call the library at 453-2341 for further information.

STORY HOUR
“Craft Day” will be the theme for Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Usually one half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the Story Time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
The Pigeon District Library Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 4:30 PM in the library’s Community Room. The meeting is open to the public.

USED BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library will be having its March Used Book Sale on Saturday, March 6 in the Reference Room of the library from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Prices range from $.25 to $3.00. Also, don’t forget the On-Going Used Book Sale. Selected hardcover and paperback books are always available on the bookshelves near the circulation counter.

Hot coffee, cocoa, and tea are available on Thursdays in the Reference Room of the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea while reading the newspaper or visiting with fellow readers.
