ADULT WINTER READING PROGRAM
The Pigeon District Library’s Adult Winter Reading Program has begun and will end March 15. Adult patrons who participated last year had a lot of fun, but participation is totally optional. Simply fill out an entry slip each time you visit the library and check out books, magazines, or books on CD or tape. CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to Maureen Corrion, our sixth winner in the weekly drawing for the Adult Winter Reading Program. Maureen received a free book along with a Car Care Kit donated by McCormick Motors of Pigeon. .

FOPDL SPRING FUNDRAISER
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library has a spring fundraiser called “Flower Power”. Information will be available online and through brochures to inform patrons about the fundraiser. The brochures have been placed on the FOPDL Book Sale carousel near the Circulation Desk. For every item ordered, the friends group gets 50% of the cost of the item(s). The person who places the order pays $5.00 to cover shipping and everything is sent directly to the customer. This fundraiser will end on March 31st.

USED BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library will be having its March Used Book Sale on Saturday, March 6 in the Reference Room of the library from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Prices range from $.25 to $3.00. Also, don’t forget the On-Going Used Book Sale. Selected hardcover and paperback books are always available on the bookshelves near the circulation counter.

STORY HOUR
“Pigs” will be the theme for Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Usually one half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the Story Time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. For more information, please call the library at 453-2341 and ask for Jane Himmel.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
When the weather outside gets frightful, please call the library or listen to WLEW to make sure the library will be open for your reading needs.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
During the spring and fall, the Pigeon District Library will be offering a once-a-month late afternoon program for preschoolers, and for children in grades K-2, and grades 3 -5. The program for the preschoolers will include a story, craft, and other activities. The program for children in grades K-2 will include a story, craft, and snack, and the program for children in grades 3-5 will include a snack and activities centered on the paperback book “The Lightning Thief.” Those who sign up for this activity will receive a free copy of the book being discussed. These spring programs will take place during the months of March through May and the fall program will take place during the months of September through November. COMPUTER WORKSHOP
Led by Kim Gaeth, the following workshops will be provided free of charge to area residents:
Saturday, March 13, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: “Introduction to Computers”
Saturday, March 20, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: “Introduction to Word Processing”
Saturday, March 27, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: “Introduction to the Internet”

Since class size is limited for these workshops, pre-registration is required and the sign up sheets are on the table near the Circulation Desk. The workshops will be held in the library’s computer lab.

COFFEE TIME AT THE LIBRARY
Hot coffee, cocoa, and tea are available on Thursdays in the Reference Room of the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea while reading the newspaper or visiting with fellow readers.
