2009 SUMMER READING PROGRAM
“Be Creative @ Your Library” is the theme for the 2009 Summer Reading Program at the Pigeon District Library. Registration began Tuesday, May 26 and will continue through June 20.

Recording of books will be held from June 8 through July 11.Enjoy five weeks of summer fun by earning “Musical Notes” for the books you read and for participating in the activities scheduled throughout the program.

When you register for the Summer Reading Program, you will receive a book bag, bookmark, pencil, SRP guidelines, and a calendar of scheduled events.

This program is open to children who turn 5 by August 31st through grade 8.

LAP-SIT STORY TIME AND PRE-SCHOOL STORY HOUR
“Father’s Day” will be the theme on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Usually one half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the story time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. For more information, please call the library at 453-2341 and ask for Jane Himmel.

LIBRARY BOARD OF TLRUSTEES ANNUAL BOARD MEETING
The Pigeon District Library Board of Trustees will hold its annual board meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2009 beginning at 4:30 PM in the library’s Community Room. The meeting is open to the public.

LOCAL OBITUARIES ONLINE
The library now has an online file of Huron County obituaries. To search for an obituary, click on the “Local Obituaries” link in the left-hand column of our home page. Then click on the first letter of the deceased person’s last name to view the names which are listed by calendar year, and then click on the name of the person. To view the obituary, click on the “Open” tab.

SUMMER SATURDAY HOURS
During June, July, and August, the library’s Saturday hours will be 9 AM -1 PM. Weekday hours remain unchanged.
