LIBRARY HOURS
Starting Nov. 3, the library will be closing at 6 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The library hours will be Monday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

USED BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library will be having its November Used Book Sale on Saturday, November 7, 2009, in the Reference Room of the library from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Prices range from $.25 to $3.00. Also, don’t forget the On-Going Used Paperback Sale. Paperback books are always available on the bookshelf to the right of the aquarium in the Children’s Room.

COUPON WORKSHOP
Using coupons at the store can save you money! You are invited to attend one or all of the free classes on “couponing” which will be led by Carissa Alexander. The classes will be held the first three Tuesdays in November from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM in the library’s Community Room.
Week 2 (Nov. 10) will cover unit prices and stockpiling – the purpose of stockpiling and understanding unit prices.
Week 3 (Nov. 17) will cover rebates.

STORY HOUR
“Orange Day” will be the theme held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Usually one half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the Story Time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. FRIENDS OF THE PIGEON DISTRICT LIBRARY FUNDRAISER
You Donate $5. We give you $10 to spend! The Friends of the Pigeon District Library (FOPDL) are selling Community Day Event coupons booklets for $5.00 each. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Pigeon District Library. The sale will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Younkers store in the Bay City Mall and other Bon-Ton stores listed in the booklet.

Inside the coupon booklet is one $10 coupon to spend at Younkers or any other Bon-Ton store. Also included are eight 20% off coupons, pre-sale advantages, and bonus buys. Exclusions do apply so check your coupons carefully before shopping.

COFFEE TIME AT THE LIBRARY
Hot coffee, cocoa, and tea are available on Thursdays in the Reference Room of the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea while reading the newspaper or visiting with fellow readers.

You can support the library by becoming a member of the Friends of the Pigeon District Library. Initial membership is $10.00 and then $5 each year thereafter. Join us at our next meeting on November 19, 2009 at 6:00 PM.

CIRCULATION
Circulation for the month of October 2009 was 2,960 items, including 1, 629 Books, 4 Cameras and Toys, 2 Discovery Packs, 170 DVD Rentals, 171 Videos, 57 Non-Fiction Videos and DVDs, 131 Audio and CD, 69 Periodicals, 256 Internet Users, 14 Puzzles, and 457 New Material Check-Outs. Inter-Loan statistics included 255 items borrowed and 472 items loaned to other libraries through the Valley Library Consortium. From the MelCat Library System 22 items borrowed and 26 loaned and on the Peabody System 3 items were loaned to other libraries. Thirty-seven registrations for the month included: Caseville 12, Chandler 1, Fairhaven 8, Oliver 9, Winsor 6, and 1 from other townships.
