ADULT WINTER READING PROGRAM
The Pigeon District Library’s Adult Winter Reading Program has begun and will end March 15. Adult patrons who participated last year had a lot of fun, but participation is totally optional. Simply fill out an entry slip each time you visit the library and check out books, magazines, or books on CD or tape.

Congratulations to Aaron Eichler, our second winner in the weekly drawing for the Adult Winter Reading Program. Aaron received a free book along with a $10 Shell Gift Card which was donated by Penny St. Cyr from State Farm Insurance in Pigeon.

STORY HOUR
“Valentine’s Day” will be the theme for Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Usually one half-hour session is held for Lap-Sit Story Time each Tuesday at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the Story Time and Pre-School Story Hour is held each Tuesday at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. For more information, please call the library at 453-2341 and ask for Jane Himmel.

USED BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Pigeon District Library will be having its February Used Book Sale
on Saturday, February 6, 2010, in the Reference Room of the library from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Prices range from $.25 to $3.00. Also, don’t forget the On-Going Used Paperback Sale. Paperback books are always available on the bookshelf to the right of the aquarium to the Children’s Room.

COUPON CLASS
Led by Carissa Alexander, a Coupon Class will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 9:30 AM – 12 (Noon). Using coupons at the store can save you money! You are invited to attend this free class.

COFFEE TIME AT THE LIBRARY
Hot coffee, cocoa, and tea are available on Thursdays in the Reference Room of the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea while reading the newspaper or visiting with fellow readers.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
When the weather outside gets frightful, please call the library or listen to WLEW to make sure the library will be open for your reading needs.

BEGINNER QUILTING CLASS
Tuesdays-February 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Led by Lori Santos a Beginner Quilting Class called “Turning Twenty Quilt” will be provided free of charge to area residents. You will be instructed on how
to make a quilt from twenty fat quarters in your choice of colors. Participants will cut, sew, and piece together blocks to make this easy and fun quilt. Materials needed: 20 Fat Quarters, 2 yards of fabric for optional outside border and binding, sewing machine, scissors and thread. Since class size is limited for this quilting class, pre-registration is required and a sign-up sheet is located on the table in front of the Circulation Desk.

FAMILY MOVIE
Thursday, February 11 at 4:30 PM
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” Rated: G Time: 84 Minutes
“This is the Classic Disney fable about Snow White, the most beautiful woman in the land, a jealous queen who tricks her, and seven friends who try to save her.” Bring the family to watch this free movie on the library’s 7’ x 7’ screen in the Community Room and enjoy free popcorn.

BEGINNER CROCHET CLASS
Saturday-February 13 from 1:00 PM -3:00 PM
Led by Sue Bouck, a Beginner Crochet Class will be provided free of charge to area residents. You will be instructed on how to single crochet so you can make a small afghan, baby afghan, lap afghan, or scarf. Materials needed: 2 skeins of yarn for
an afghan, different yard colors (optional), 1 “Q” hook-sold at HarJo’s Ben Franklin or
Wal-Mart or you may purchase one at the class from the instructor. Since class size is limited for this beginner crochet class, pre-registration is required and a sign-up sheet is located on the table in front of the Circulation Desk.

LAKER ACCELERATED READER LISTS
The Accelerated Reader lists from Lakers Elementary School website and Lakers Jr. High website have been copied and put into spreadsheet files. Staff members at the Pigeon District Library have bolded the titles on each list that are in our library’s collection. For each school, one list of titles is in alphabetical order and another list is in book level order. Simply click on the file you wish to view and wait for the list to load.

BOOKPAGE
The February 2010 issue of BookPage has arrived and can be found in the library’s Information Center. “A monthly general interest review, BookPage covers the best in new releases. BookPage typically reviews up to 100 of each month’s new fiction, nonfiction, business, children’s, spoken word audio and how-to books. The tone is upbeat and literate, focusing on bestsellers as well as new discoveries.” BookPage can also be accessed through the internet at www.bookpage.com.

MICHIGAN AND FEDERAL TAX FORMS ARE HERE!
The library has received a limited supply of Michigan and Federal tax forms. If the tax form you need is not available in paper form, a staff member will assist you in retrieving it from a tax form website. We are pleased to be a source for income tax forms but wish to remind everyone that staff members are not tax professionals and cannot provide tax advice or assistance with e-filing and tax preparation.
