TAIL WAGGIN’ TUTORS: NOVEMBER 5TH
Last year, the library started a program using therapy dogs called “Tail Waggin’ Tutors”. Children in grades K-4 are encouraged to come to the library and read to one of three therapy dogs. Bella is owned by Sandy Chalou, Paddy is owned by Bernie Dezenski, and Reese is owned by Jerry & Yvonne Greer. The goal is to encourage children to read by providing a relaxed, non-judgmental environment where children can feel comfortable reading aloud to a furry friend. The dogs are licensed, certified and insured – one through Therapy Dogs, Inc. and two through Therapy Dogs, International.
Pre-registration is required for the program which is offered on the first Monday and third Thursday of each month between 4:00 PM and 500 PM. A child who signs up for the program will spend ten minutes reading aloud to one of the therapy dogs (and its handler). If your child is interested in reading to one of our “Tail Waggin’ Tutors” on Monday, November 5th, please call the library at 453-2341 to sign-up for an available time slot.

OVERDRIVE APP AVILABLE FOR NOOK USERS
Borrowing eBooks and audiobooks from the library just got a whole lot easier
for users of the NOOK HD, NOOK HD+, NOOK Tablet™ and NOOK Color™. Recently, Barnes & Noble added the OverDrive Media Console app to the NOOK Apps™ storefront. This NOOK app enables users to wirelessly borrow eBooks and MP3 audiobooks from the library.
All NOOK devices—including NOOK 1st Edition,NOOK Simple Touch and NOOK
Simple Touch with GlowLight—have always enabled users to read eBooks
borrowed from libraries, but the process required sideloading the files from
a computer using Adobe Digital Editions and a USB cable. Now users of NOOK
HD, NOOK HD+, NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color can borrow eBooks and audiobooks wirelessly using the OverDrive app.
Users can visit the NOOK Apps storefront to install the free OverDrive Media
Console app. The app enables users to locate our library, browse or search
our eBook and MP3 audiobook collection and, after entering a valid library
card ID, check out and download the title.
