ExpressSOS.com—one more reason for Michigan
residents to love our library
The centerpiece of a new partnership between
the Secretary of State’s office and libraries across Michigan is ExpressSOS.com, the online, no-wait
Secretary of State. Through this groundbreaking alliance, local library public
computer stations are neighborhood access points to Secretary of State online
services, allowing residents to complete common transactions such as tab
renewals in just minutes. The partnership also connects local communities to
timely Secretary of State news, such as upcoming election dates, by utilizing
library newsletters, websites and social media.
FREADING
– NEW E-BOOK SERVICE FOR PATRONS
Freading is the newest eBook service available to Pigeon District Library patrons. The service will give adult and juvenile patrons free access to thousands of fiction and non-fiction books through the library’s website at www.pigeondistrictlibrary.com. One great feature about the service is that a title can be checked out by more than one patron at the same time. We are anticipating many books will be checked out by students who want to read books that are on their Accelerated Reader list.
Freading has its own apps for the iPad and iPhone, and its own apps for Android tablets and phones. It is also compatible with the Kindle Fire, the Nook devices, and Kobo devices.
