WINTER READING PROGRAM FOR ADULTS HAS BEGUN!
The Pigeon District Library is hosting its fifth, annual adult winter reading program from January 16-March 15. The program is open to Pigeon District Library cardholders, ages eighteen and above, who check out books, audio books, books on CD, Playaway audio books or magazines and those who download audio books or e-books from OverDrive. No sign-up is required and participation is optional. If a patron wishes to participate in the program, he/she simply fills out an entry slip when checking out qualifying materials and puts it in the reading program box. There will be weekly prizes donated by local businesses. The library staff would like to thank the following businesses for donating prizes to the program: Amy’s, Bay Port State Bank, Co-op Elevator Co., d’s organic concepts, Elkton Hardware, Envy Me Hair Salon and Day Spa-Elkton, Harjo’s Ben Franklin, Herbs & More-Elkton, Independent Bank, Lefty’s Diner-Caseville, McCormick Motors, Orr’s Drug Store, Pigeon Telephone Company, Scheurer Family Pharmacy, TheBarberShop, and Thumb National Bank. CONGRATULATIONS TO WEEK 2 WINNERS!        
Congratulations to Carl Stetler and Bob Orr-our week 2 winners in our Adult Winter Reading Program. Carl will receive a free book along with a $25 Gift Card donated by Cooperative Elevator Company, and Bob will receive a free book along with his choice of prize from Elkton Hardware-rechargeable screwdriver or fragrance warmer with wax melts, and a gift certificate for a free milk shake donated by Lefty’s Diner in Caseville.

THUMB WORDS WORK WRITERS GROUP   
The Thumb Words Work Writers Group will be having its monthly meeting Monday, February 3 from 7 PM to 9 PM in the library’s Community Room. Writers, no matter what skill level, are invited to attend the meeting.
LAP-SIT STORY TIME AND PRE-SCHOOL STORY HOUR
“Groundhogs” will be the theme for Tuesday, February 4, 2014. A half-hour Lap-Sit Story Time is held for toddlers at 10:00 AM with parent and child attending the story time and  Pre-School Story Hour is held at 10:30 AM. In both sessions, children listen to stories and participate in finger plays, songs, and crafts. There is no cost for this service and new families are always welcome. FREE MOVIE FOR ADULTS     
"Last Chance Harvey”

The Pigeon District Library Book Club will be hosting a showing of the movie “Last Chance Harvey” in the Community Room of the library on Tuesday, February 4 from 5:30 PM to     7:30 PM. The Community Room will be open at 5:00 PM for adult patrons wishing to see the movie. Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa will be served along with treats that anyone wishes to bring and share. TAIL WAGGIN’ TUTORS AT PIGEON DISTRICT LIBRARY              

Therapy dogs, Bella and Paddy will be at the library from 4 – 5 PM on the second Thursday of each month. This month leader dog June Bug will also be with us. Children in grades K-4 are encouraged to sign-up for a ten minute time slot so they can read to one of the dogs. For more information and to sign-up, please stop by or call us at 453-2341. Bella, Paddy, and June Bug will be with us on Thursday, February 13th and are looking forward to seeing everyone.

JUNIOR JIVE!EVERY THURSDAY
Come and join us for Junior Jive! Two sessions are held with the first session from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM for 1 ½ years to older 2 year olds. The second session is held from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM for 3 years to 5 years old. Registration forms are available at the Pigeon District Library. No Fees are collected. Come join us for some musical fun and the chance to get those bodies jiving.

THURSDAY REFRESHMENTS                            
Hot coffee, cocoa and tea are available on Thursdays at the library. Come and relax with a cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea while studying, reading the newspaper or visiting with fellow readers.
