BANNED BOOKS WEEK

Banned Book Week 2008 is “Closing books shuts out ideas.”

The week of September 27 through October 4, 2008, marks the 27th anniversary of Banned Books Week, American Library Association’s annual celebration of the freedom to read.

If we want to continue to protect our First Amendment, we should keep in mind the words of Noam Chomsky: “If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.”
