“The American Library Association (ALA) is pleased to announce that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and a prolific author, has been named honorary chair of Library Card Sign-up Month.
Abdul-Jabbar said, “The library has always been my own personal time machine. I can walk through the doors and land in any place, any time period in history. I didn’t have to wonder what their worlds were like; I could experience it firsthand.”
It is very easy to sign up for a library card at the Pigeon District Library. Books, toys, videos, DVDs, educational CDs, and internet access are just a few of the things that are available to you when you have a library card. Residents and property owners in the townships of Chandler, McKinley, Winsor, Caseville, Fairhaven, and Oliver, who are three years of age or older, are eligible to register for free library cards. Children under 18 years of age must have the application signed by a parent or legal guardian.
