Thank you to everyone who supported our Military Mailing Day on September 25th. Pigeon Postmaster Peggy Hoppe and volunteers assembled gift packages for service men and women in the library’s Community Room. The post office provided the flat rate mailing boxes and tape. Monetary donations covered the cost of mailing the seventy-six boxes that were packed.
Thank you to Joy Leipprandt for coordinating the project at Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Schools, to Steve Langford at Independent Bank for receiving and recording the monetary donations, and to Pigeon District Library for providing the work space and for the refreshments for the volunteers. Thank you, especially, to Peggy Hoppe for overseeing the project.
Thank you to the following volunteers who helped pack the boxes – Tiffany Collins, Bonnie Gaeth, Cindy Johnson, Emma Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Sue Kohl, Peg Leipprandt, Sandy MacGillivray, Jenny Martens, Sherrie Phillips, Geraldine Poynton, Penny St. Cyr, and Shay St. Cyr.
We plan to host another Military Mailing Day in either late May or early June of 2010. The library will continue to post the list of acceptable items on its website so people can access the list when needed. Please keep in mind that donated items may not contain any alcohol.
