THANK YOU FRIENDS OF THE PIGEON DISTRICT LIBRARY AND LIBRI FOUNDATION
Thanks to the funds which were raised by the Friends of the Pigeon District Library and matched 2:1 by the Libri Foundation, the Pigeon District Library received more than $1,050 in new, hardcover books to add to our Beginner, Older Children, Junior Adult, and Young Adult Collections.

The Libri Foundation is a nationwide non-profit organization which donates new, quality, hardcover children’s books to small, rural public libraries in the United States through its BOOKS FOR CHILDREN program. The books received from the Libri Foundation are processed and ready to be checked-out. The books are located on a table in the Children’s Room underneath the window of the Library Director’s office. Come in and check these books out. There are many to choose from.

CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY – HISTORICAL DISPLAY
The Pigeon District Library has been serving area residents for the last one hundred years and area residents are invited to stop by to see the library’s historical display on the wall of the hallway which leads from the library to the Community Room. Everyone who stops by will receive a Centennial Bookmark that commemorates the library’s 100th anniversary.

GREATER HURON COUNTY UNITED WAY GRANT
Thanks to a $500.00 grant received from the Greater Huron County United Way, the library will be purchasing Tag Learn to Read materials from Leap Frog. The special books and reading system pens will enable beginning readers to learn the names and sounds of letters of each word on a page and to hear each word read aloud to them.
